Loudoun County Offers Free Housing Seminar to Help Homebuyers

First-time homeowners can sometimes find it challenging to adjust to their new home and settle in properly. Recent homebuyers should equip themselves with information that can help them maneuver through the process and surpass any problems that may arise.  For example, there are issues regarding home budgeting, home owners associations, and home maintenance to name a few.

In Loudoun County, a free seminar for homebuyers is offered every quarter to provide support to recent homebuyers and prospective home purchasers. The Loudoun County “HomeCents” seminar aims to offer helpful information and tips for homebuyers that are usually not relayed by their lenders or real estate agents.

The “HomeCents” seminar tackles different topics on home buying and ownership for two hours. Budgeting is one of the topics and helps homebuyers set SMART goals for their future. Another topic is home maintenance, which covers home inspections, DIY projects, safety inside the house, and the life span of materials and home appliances. Homebuyers will learn how to properly maintain their home, so it will last for a long time.

Participants will also have the chance to learn more about insurance, taxes, and home owners associations.

The next Loudoun Country “HomeCents” seminar is scheduled for June 26, 2013 in the Shenandoah Room at the Department of Family Services. The seminar will last from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Those who are interested in attending must register before June 25, 2013. Patricipants will receive a variety of complementary materials, including brochures, handouts, and a Money Smart Financial Education CD.
