Loudoun County’s Great Amazing Race Offers Family Fun

The summer season is about spending time with family and friends. While school is out, kids are able to enjoy their time doing fun activities and bonding with their loved ones to create lasting memories.

In Loudoun County this weekend, there will be plenty of opportunities for family fun because The Great Amazing Race, similar to the popular TV show, will be held at Claude Moore Park on Saturday, July 27.  A mile-long course interspersed with different challenge stations awaits participants, ensuring a good time for everyone.  The race is open to all kids and adults. A team of two is required to join the race, and it can contain one kid and one adult or two kids and two adults.  There is a limited number of slots, and only 100 pairs will be allowed to participate, so early reservations are encouraged. Participants can reserve a spot and then add their teammates later on. A $40 admission is required to sign up for the race, though spectators may watch for free.

The Great Amazing Race will include challenges such as piggybacks and mummy wraps. This will allow participants to also enjoy and bond with their teammates and not just concentrate on the competition alone.

The race will start at 4:00 p.m. and end at 6:00 p.m. Winners will be determined per division: Grades K-4, Grades 5-12, and Adults. Medals will be awarded to the winners, who will also be qualified for the championship race in Cincinnati or New Orleans.
